Given information: Data of M and R’s fish catching competition,

$12.5,10.25,10,11.75,12,10,25,10$	$10.5,11.5,10.5,8,8.5,18.5,9.25$

Formula used:

Mean= $\frac{{\displaystyle \sum _{i=1}^n{X}_i}}{n}$

Where, n= total number of terms,

x= observation

Calculation:

For M,

Substituting values in mean formula,

  $mean=\frac{12.5+10.25+10+11.75+12+10.25+10}{7}$

So,

  $mean=\frac{76.75}{7}$

On solving,

  $mean=10.96$

Hence, M’s mean is 10.96

For R,

Substituting values in mean formula,

  $mean=\frac{10.5+11.5+10.5+8+8.5+18.5+9.25}{7}$

So,

  $mean=\frac{76.75}{7}$

On solving,

  $mean=10.96$

Hence, R ’s mean is 10.96

On comparing M and R ’s mean, the mean of both R and M is same.

Hence, the fishing competition between the two is draw on the bases of statistics.
