Given Information:

We have below mentioned data,

The height as, h

Surface tension as, ϒ

The pressure difference across the interface of water-air, Δp=ρgη

The wetting contact angle as, θ at x=0 and

Horizontal surface as, η=0 as x

We can understand that the given figure is representing a two-dimensional surface-tension with single curvature.

We can observe that the weight of film balances the surface-tension rise that results into,

Above equation has a well-known solution and known as second order differential equation. The solution is as follows,

η=C1exp[ρgϒx]+C2exp[-ρgϒx]..(1)

In above equation, the values of C1 and C2 are found constant from boundary equations.

We have horizontal surface as η=0 as x, putting in equation (1),

η=C1exp[ρgϒx]+C2exp[-ρgϒx]0=C1exp[ρgϒx]+C2exp[-ρgϒx]for satisfying the eqaution, the value of C1must be zero. C1 =0 andη=C2exp[-ρgϒx]

But η=hat x=0h =C2exp[-ρgϒx]we have C2= hη = h exp[-ρgϒ(x)]

ηx=0=h=C2exp(0), hence C2=h

Meanwhile, the contact angle present in the above equation must be such that,
