Explanation of Solution

The required CPU time can be calculated using the following formula

$\text{CPU}\text{time}\text{=}\frac{\text{Number}\text{of}\text{instructions}\text{×}\text{CPI}}{\text{clock}\text{rate}}$

We have,

$\text{CPU}{\text{time}}_{\text{(before)}}\text{=}\frac{\text{Number}\text{of}\text{instructions}\text{×}\text{CPI}}{\text{clock}\text{rate}}$

With the increase of the 10% and 5% in number of instructions and CPI respectively, the CPU time results as follows,

$\text{CPU}{\text{time}}_{\text{(after)}}\text{=}\frac{\text{Number}\text{of}\text{instructions}\text{×}\text{1}\text{.1}\text{×}\text{CPI}\text{×}\text{1}}{}$
