The gravity thickened sludge contains 4% solids (sp.gr. = 1.03). Dry chemicals are added in the thickened sludge at a ratio of 4 % of the weight of dry solids. The sludge cake has 25 % solids (sp.gr. = 1.06).

 

1. Calculate the volume of sludge cake, m3/d.

2. Calculate the concentration of TSS in the overflows (returned liquid flow) from the thickener and centrifuge (mg/L)
