The transcription process is shown in the following diagram. Where DNA is transcribed into RNA with the help of the enzyme RNA polymerase. RNA polymerase binds at the promoter region of the DNA & starts the transcription at the initiation site. Then it adds nucleotides (ATP, GTP, UTP & CTP) from a 5' to 3' direction & stops at the termination site.
