Early Mesoamerica: Sustainability of the Early Mesoamericans
Explain the methods of food production by these peoples/societies
Mesoamerica refers to the region that extends from present-day Southern Mexico to Northern Honduras. It was the home to many complex civilizations going back to nearly 3,000 years. The earliest Mesoamerican civilization was the Olmec. They lived from 1200 B.C. to 400 B.C. Nearly a century after the Olmecs came the Zapotec civilization. They lived from 500 B.C. to 900 A.D. After these formative civilizations, the Maya, Toltec and Aztec civilizations took shape. From then on, these civilizations have dominated much of the history of Mesoamerican civilizations.
