To what extent should enslaved narratives be taught in K-12 education? College?

Slavery is important historical institute of the society. United States of America has a long history of slavery and racism which has often been neglected or forgotten in the present times. It is the duty of the academic world to spread knowledge and truth about the past and history without refining it through the colonial lens. Narratives by abolitionist leaders and civil rights activists help us understand their side of the story and their take on the past.
