After the independence, the US went through a tough time as the country found it difficult to create a form of government that was adequate for the nation. In 1777, the US adopted the Articles of Confederation, the first form of government. However, the country and its founding fathers were pushed to draft a new constitution on the economic and political weakness of the Articles.
