What circumstances contributed to the mass exodus of people from the inner cities to the suburbs after World War 2? Why did this mass exodus lead to an urban crisis in the 1960’s and does this urban crisis still exist today?
During the late nineteenth century in the United States, a large number of immigrants and migrants from the rural South moved to cities in the hope of finding better economic and social opportunities. However, by the end of World War II, that trend had been reversed. Now, people from the inner city began to move to the suburbs. This change in residence patterns had a significant impact on society and politics.
