Expert Solution
Step 1

The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was an act implemented to stop the immigration of Chinese laborers. The term included both skilled and unskilled men as well as those working in mines. Later another clause was added that those workers who did manage to enter the States would need an identification certificate or face deportation. Other restrictions were subsequently added, and the act was indefinitely imposed from 1904 onwards. It was only in 1943 that the act was lifted, and a limited quota of immigrants was allowed entry into the US annually.
