Of the many millions of sperm that are deposited into the female's reproductive tract during copulation, only one can achieve fertilisation. Describe the journey that this successful sperm must make from its delivery into the vagina through to the completion of fertilisation, including the hurdles it must overcome to achieve this feat. 2. Now consider the zygote. The zygote undergoes cleavage as it makes it way down to the uterus, what stages does the embryo go through during this journey and how is implantation achieved once the embryo arrives at the uterus?
