3) indicate which locations in the H-R diagram correspond to places where the evolution is slow. Answers should be in the order they occur in the star. For example, if, in order, E, I and A are locations where there is a long time between changes, then enter EIA. (HINT: There are exactly three of them Hint: Hint: Our sun will be stable for another 4 billion years and white dwarfs last a long time because they are small. Really good additional hint: There are 3 places where the evolution is slow. Info below is what each of the labels are. 1) red giant, helium flash A 2) white dwarf F 3) red giant with helium burning shell B 4) hydrogen fusion in shell around core I 5) helium fusion in core D 6) envelope ejected, planetary nebula H 7) main-sequence star C 8) helium used up, core collapses G 9) hydrogen used up, core collapses E
Stellar evolution
We may see thousands of stars in the dark sky. Our universe consists of billions of stars. Stars may appear tiny to us but they are huge balls of gasses. Sun is a star of average size. Some stars are even a thousand times larger than the sun. The stars do not exist forever they have a certain lifetime. The life span of the sun is about 10 billion years. The star undergoes various changes during its lifetime, this process is called stellar evolution. The structure of the sun-like star is shown below.
Red Shift
It is an astronomical phenomenon. In this phenomenon, increase in wavelength with corresponding decrease in photon energy and frequency of radiation of light. It is the displacement of spectrum of any kind of astronomical object to the longer wavelengths (red) side.
