Hi There are many issues that the Riverez family needs to overcome together as a family. I am including the Riverez's extended family also. For both Quianna's and Julio's parents, they need to start being role models for Quianna, Julio, and their grandchildren by accepting them as who they are. Otherwise, Quianna's and Julio's children may hold resentment towards their grandparents as they become older and will start to understand why their grandparents are not around them very much, unlike how so many other grandparents are more involved in their grandchildren's lives. This situation is a difficult obstacle that needs to be addressed in some way. As of right now, the only possible solution that I can see that may assist the Riverez family in this situation is possibly by attending counseling with each set of parents. Once the door becomes open from both sets of parents, it is possible that the Riverez family may be able to receive some assistance from both sets of parents. Like I mentioned in the beginning of my discussion response, there are many issues that the Riverez family needs assistance with, along with the guidance from a human services professional to guide them through the process to meet their short and long term goals. I believe that with assistance from the extended family support and guidance from a human services professional the Riverez will succeed. Although, obviously it will take quite some effort and time, the end result will be worth it for their family.
