Hi Everyone, The example that sticks out the most for me the most is having the modern family that always were expected when the women were always responsible for the cooking, cleaning, paying bills on time, and running the children around to their various activities. So obviously, it is known that the norm mandates that the men are foreseen as the primary breadwinners for their family. Just a few years ago if the roles were exchanged between the mother and father, it was frowned upon. Today we continue to witness women continue to maintain fulltime employment, while the husband is now the caregiver. Society has and still is changing their viewpoints on the non- traditional family situation. Some individuals frown upon having the roles exchanged within the family, and violating the roles can cause issues with social disapproval. When the gender roles are interchanged between the mother and father in the home, the father may feel that it is his responsibility to work outside of the home and may feel bad about himself and feel weak. Whereas the mother usually enjoys working outside of the home and is simply fine with the situation. Both parents might need to work outside of the home due to the cost of living. Many families today need two incomes to support their family. The world and how families take care of their families and careers are accomplished individually and differently, whatever their circumstances may be and whatever works for their family, the parents in the home feel it is the best way to make ends meet.
