1.Explain what patterns and shifts you see in your lifeline. (50-75 words) After examining my life line, I can see that I became extremely busy after graduating from my bachelors. Though as I lived through it, at the time it did not seem to be so busy, but now getting to look at it, a lot happened in those few short years and I am grateful for them all as they have shaped who I am today. Looking forward to the future parts of my timeline, there are many things that will fill it in the years to come and I am excited to see how my life will continue to unfold. 2.Explain how important the different sectors of your life are – family, education, work and health. (75-100 words) With each section of my life there are different challenges I must face and changes that occur. As a whole they all intertwin within one another to create my life. For example, my husband and I moved up north to be closer to family and start our own. This family life event in turn lead to me changing careers, I went from working at home as part of a healthcare organizations call center to working with the county in child protection. This shift in my work would have never occurred had my husband and I not made the choice to move. Each section is a vital source on how I interact with the world around me. 3.How would you apply the life course perspective to your work with clients? (50-75 words) The life course perspective puts equal value on individual agency and human connectedness; therefore, it serves as a good framework for social work’s commitments to both the dignity and worth of the person as well as the importance of human relationships. (Hutchinson, 2019) With each client I encounter, I will need to change how I approach them as their needs will each be different. As a whole though, within the realm of Social Work, I will be able to use the life perspective in my practice by helping my clients meet their needs in all areas of their life including, healthcare resources, social involvement, spiritual needs, economical needs, educational needs and family connections. 4.Discuss the importance of the life course perspective in the area of social work you are focusing on in this master’s program. (100-150 words) For my focus in Social Work, I will be working closely with students. Through my work with these students, I hope to help them feel safe and connected in our school community. I hope to give them help in all areas of their lives and give them a place to come when they need to talk. I hope that I can be the intervention that keeps them coming to school, that helps them and their family through connecting them to resources within our community and that creates a caring environment for them. With my work I will continually be looking for ways to keep these students from falling through the cracks or getting left behind by going unnoticed. An open door and a ready smile for each student I pass in the hall can be a welcoming invitation for them to come to me for help in any areas of life.
