Identify one benefit or drawback of the approach they have identified and explain why. Hi Ashlea! We chose the same client for our post this week. I also utilized the ABC model with Jake. I like that the ABC model considers that the first intervention utilized may not be practical or enough, and we may need to combine treatments. Often, combining two interventions has been shown to have positive results when just one intervention does not have the desired outcome (Dudley, 2020). For Jake, who is experiencing multiple issues at one time, PTSD symptoms, substance abuse, and marital issues, it is highly plausible that just one intervention will not cover all of his needs. The only thing I would do is start by addressing his PTSD symptoms first as this is likely the contributing factor for his drinking. He is drinking to numb his symptoms. References Dudley, J. R.
