Tamara Truett Dr. Melius Treatman Plan
The client is the Bargas family, which includes of the mother, father, and kids. After the first metting, Mrs. Bargas has brought up different issues: her husband's decline health. Since Ms. Bargas doesn’t have a job, they’re about to lose their house. The family doesn’t have any health insurance, which is needed to get her husband speech therapy. Finally, her daughter's is acting out, which has caused a lot of family issues. It's crucial to recognize the current problems with the client in every client scenario. The social worker must be aware that trying to solve every problem at once can be very difficult to handle. As Mrs. Bargas expresses her concers, I would clarify with her about her issues and then think of a plan to help her with those needs. In our capacity as social workers working with clients, we must make plans to address issues that can be accomplished. Our text demonstrates this. "a third criterion is that it must be realistically possible that you and your client will be able to do something about the problem." (Kirst-Ashman, Hull 2018 p. 226) Mrs. Bargas must find a stable job to earn income to keep the family's home in good condition. The family needs insurance to pay for medical costs. To preserve stability while Mrs. Bargas looks for work, the family needs to apply for government aid programs including Temporary aid for Needy Families, rental assistance, and food stamps. To determine what is causing Amy's conduct to alter, Mrs. Bargas will need counseling with Amy. During the interaction, it's critical to point out the client's advantages. A client will feel empowered if you help them identify their strengths. "Instead of focusing on problems, needs and deficits, strengths provide you with something positive you can use to empower clients." (Kirst-Ashman, Hull 2018 p. 230). Mentioning and discussing a client strength will help to establish trust as well as demonstrate our ability to concentrate on the positive. Goal 1: Ms. Bargas must secure financial stability for the family, such as TANF, food stamps, and rental assistance. Objective 2: Ms. Bargas will find a job. Goal 1: Mrs. Bargas must secure money assistance for the family, including TANF, food stamps, and rental assistance. The goal is for Mrs. Bargas to finish her benefit applications. Objective 2: Ms. Bargas will find work. Goal: Mrs. Bargas will critique her resume and apply for jobs within her level of experience. Action steps are used when working with a client to "help identify appropriate intervention strategies." 2018 Kirst-Ashman, Hull, p. 237 The application for government benefits must be obtained by October 6 for Mrs. Bargas to be able to pursue her goal of receiving financial assistance. Second, she must finish the application by October 9th with help from a social worker. Locate the necessary documents (ID, bank statements, etc.) and have them ready by October 11th. Finally, deliver the application to your neighborhood welfare office by October 13th. Mrs. Bargas must first meet with a career counselor for a skills assessment, update her resume, and conduct a mock interview by October 9th in order to fulfill her employment goal. Second, by October 16, Mrs. Bargas should be comfortable using online job search engines like Indeed, Monster, etc. Finally, by October 21, 2023, she needs to submit online or in-person applications for at least 3 positions. In social work, documenting is crucial. I seem to remember hearing that something didn't happen if it wasn't recorded. This is important to keep in mind as it relates to agency policies
and, most importantly, Section 3 of the NASW Code of Ethics, which addresses the ethical responsibilities of social workers in practice settings. To the extent that it is practical and appropriate, we must make sure that our records are accurate, current, and protect the privacy of our clients.
