How does social media affect conflict and conflict resolution? Social media plays a large role in conflict and conflict resolution. In this day and age, young individuals take to social media for support and validation for their viewpoints, thoughts, and behaviors. This can cause conflicts to heighten, as it is easier to say things behind a screen rather than face-to-face with individuals (Robledo, 2015). However, social media can also be used as a tool to share information as well regarding various conflicts. For example, it can provide communities with resources or learning opportunities. In short, social media can both negatively and positively affect conflict and conflict resolution. The important thing to remember is that social media outlets allow for information to be sent out quickly and easily to a large range of individuals, which can both help and hurt scenarios involving conflict. When using social media, it is important to use it appropriately, really thinking about what is posted and how it is going to be taken and viewed by others (Robledo, 2015). Resource Robledo, S. J.
