Possibilities: 1) Should tattoos be acceptable in the workplace? As somebody who has visible tattoos, this has been a concern of mine especially since deciding to major in education. As straightforward as it seems, I think in our modern society there should be overall agreed upon guidelines to visible tattoos in the workplace. 2) Special need children and classroom inclusion. Should special needs children be in the same class as average learning students? My little brother has cerebral palsy and some mild learning disabilities and recently my family and I have been presented with this exact question. My brother was moved to a regular classroom from the previous special education room he was in. Since I’ve had experience with this, I feel I can share points my position as well as counterarguments. I chose should tattoos be acceptable in the workplace as my topic. I feel I can take a firm position on this subject as opposed to the other subjects. I feel the positions I take on other topics are middle of the road and are dependent on circumstance. Framing Topic as a Problem  What are the some of the existing policies about tattoos in the workplace?  What could make tattoos more acceptable in the workplace?  What are the reasons tattoos are not acceptable at work?  Who is making the rules regarding tattoos in the workplace?  How many jobs are lost or not taken due to tattoo restrictions? Should tattoos be allowed in the workplace? I believe they should be. Not too different than a dress code, I believe if they are not vulgar or violent, they should be allowed. I want to explore what kind of jobs allow and don’t allow tattoos, what kind of rules are currently in place regarding tattoos, how many people lose or decline jobs due to these restrictions, and if there is any room to discuss modifying any restrictions that are in place with employers. I would like to make points involving highly respected professionals having tattoos, what these professionals feel about tattoo restrictions, and how having

tattoos have affected their careers. I would also like to look at the pros and cons, site counterarguments, and explore how work performance can be affected.
