ELE 110-6081 (43005) Spring 2022 05/03/2022 Fieldwork Reflection 5 In the video, the teacher initially engages the children's attention by discussing what the students already know and introducing a new topic. This method effectively captured the student's attention because it helped attract the students. The teacher-guided the students and explained what she expected from them. The goal of the lessons was clearly stated so students could express what they learned. To help students understand, the teacher used a strong voice with clear distinction. The teacher asked students to use hand signals to answer the question, which allowed the teacher to connect with the students and helped the students stay focused on the lesson. In the video, the teacher used a projector to show the materials and hand signals and movements to aid comprehension. When students gave incorrect answers, she corrected them and helped them understand why their answers were not correct. Movements were added to help with kinesthetic learning by reinforcing concepts. Positive reinforcement was also used to encourage expected behavior. Students used the SLANT method to stay focused. It stands for Sit Up, Listen, Ask Questions, Nod, and Follow the Speaker. The students demonstrated greater creativity. The teacher was extremely engaging and involved. She did an amazing job with her formative assessment. A very articulate and self-assured classroom manager. I liked how she involved the entire class rather than just a few students. Her understanding of the students is fascinating.
