1. How do these roles support criminal justice professionals? a. Community outreach coordinators can have many different roles in society. They could help people gain access to certain services like criminal justice professionals. My mom is a community outreach worker, she provides services to homeless people and helps them find shelters and soup kitchens. She also reaches out to the community when important events are going on like council meetings. There are other services they can provide to help the criminal justice professionals. Coordinators are used to reach out to the community when criminal justice professionals aren’t able to. They can reach out to schools, and even set up career events for students as well as the community. Coordinators can also help set up public community meetings to address any issues within the community. 2. What do you see as the benefits to criminal justice professionals? i. These outreach workers can help build better relationships between the community and the criminal justice workers. They can help criminal professionals build trust within the communities and help better understand who they serve to protect. Having a better understanding of your community could help criminal justice professionals keep crime levels down because there's trust on both ends. Having criminal justice professionals keeps the community safe, and having community outreach workers builds the community up for a better society. 3. What types of skills do you think these professionals need to effectively do their jobs? a. There are many skills these professionals need to do their job effectively, some of those skills they can learn during training, and some not. They need to have
communication skills such as public speaking and leadership skills. They also need to have time management and teamwork. However, I feel they also need to learn how to read people, such as body language and non-vocal cues. Knowing certain social cues can be important when dealing with certain cultures or communities.
