2 Discussion With the cooperation of boys and men, the number of rapes committed can be greatly reduced. One technique for attaining this goal is to challenge the cultural norms, attitudes, and myths linked with rape. Many cultural norms and myths contribute to the normalization of rape, such as the assumption that males cannot control their sexual appetites, that men have a right to women's bodies, or that using force or compulsion in sexual interactions is appropriate ( Karmen, 2015). These are only a handful of the misconceptions and values that help to normalize rape. The public uproar against these notions and the challenge to them can assist to reduce the rate of rape. Furthermore, young men and boys can take steps to educate themselves and their peers on the need of providing consent before engaging in sexual behavior. By highlighting the importance of consent education for young people, particularly boys and men, it is feasible to contribute to the establishment of a culture that has zero tolerance for rape ( PettyJohn et al., 2019). Furthermore, discussions about the need of respect, communication, and limits might help reduce the incidence of rapes by making it clear that rape is not permitted under any circumstances. Young men and boys may help change how rape is perceived and reported in our society. By speaking out against victim-blaming and recognizing the frequency of the issue, boys and men can help to create an environment in which people are more inclined to disclose sexual assault and survivors feel supported and believed ( Karmen, 2015). This can be accomplished by helping to create an environment in which people are more inclined to disclose sexual assault.
3 Young men and boys have the potential to play a significant role in reducing the overall incidence of rape by dispelling harmful cultural beliefs and myths, improving their own and others' understanding of the importance of consent, and working to change how rape is perceived and reported in society. By acting in the manner mentioned below, boys and men can help to create an environment in which rape is not tolerated.
