, what is the overall theme of the book (in 2-3 sentences)? The main theme of the Gospel of Matthew is to show Jesus as our lord and savior. The Gospel of Matthew was written to the Jews who believed in the Old Testament and the prophecy of a messiah, and that Jesus was the Messiah. This book reveals Jesus as the fulfillment of the scripture and the Old Testament prophecies.

Jesus instructed the disciples to cross the sea as he sent the multitude home, when Jesus sent everyone home, he went to a quiet place to pray. While the disciples were crossing the boisterous
sea, Jesus began to approach the boat, when the disciples spotted him, they were scared at first thinking he was a ghost, but Jesus told them not to fear. Peter then asked if he could meet Jesus on the water, and Jesus told him to come, when peter got off the boat he started to walk on the water until he got scared then he began to sink when fear entered his heart, but as he cried for help Jesus saved him from sinking and asked him a very simple but profound question why did you doubt?

Peter and Jesus were talking.
What questions are asked in the passage? Please list all
questions located in the passage.
O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
How would you answer each of the questions asked (in at least 3 sentences)?
Given that it was only one question asked, and it was Jesus who asked the question to Peter after he saved Peter from sinking. My answer to this question would be lord because Peter began to consider the situation and state of the physical world around him.
What words or phrases stand out to you, and why? Are any words/themes repeated? If so, share why you think there is repetition. Please answer with at least 3 sentences.
In this reading, I did not see any repetition, but I would say a lot of things stood out to me, one of
them would be Jesus praying after sending the multitude away, why? another thing that stood out
to me was when Jesus made the statement “O thou of little faith” because if Paul’s little faith allowed him to walk on water, then there is no excuse for any Christian. Page 2 of 3

My only question would be why did Jesus pray after sending the multitude away, what did he pray about?

Father thank you for your words, thank you for the opportunity and ability to receive your word today, thank you for your sweet spirit that minister your words to me. Thank you, Lord, for using these verses to teach me about faith and how Peter’s little faith was enough for him to walk on water. Thank you for showing me that my faith is enough to do great works for the kingdom. Thank you, Father, in Jesus name. Step Five: Respond
