In Matthew 14 and 15, I find valuable lessons that resonate with me deeply. These chapters highlight the compassion, faith and teachings of Jesus Christ, offering insights that can shape our lives.
One significant lesson from Matthew 14 is the miraculous feeding of the five thousand. It reminds me of the power of compassion and the importance of selflessness. Jesus showed immense care for the hungry multitude, demonstrating that even in times of scarcity, generosity can work wonders.
Moving on to Matthew 15, I am struck by the encounter between Jesus and the woman. Her
unwavering faith and persistence teach me the power of belief, even in the face of apparent
rejection. Her faith was rewarded, serving as a reminder that God's love extends beyond normal boundaries and stereotypes.
Furthermore, these chapters talk about the significance of inner purity and genuine worship. Jesus challenged the Pharisees' adherence to external rituals, encouraging a focus on the heart and authentic devotion to God.

Overall, Matthew 14 and 15 inspire me to embrace compassion, exhibit extreme faith, break down societal barriers, and prioritize inner purity. They reinforce the teachings of Jesus, urging me to live a life of love, empathy, and spiritual depth. By learning from these passages, I strive to grow closer to God and positively impact those around me.
2.
Give examples of how you used the study skill you selected this week while studying the
New Testament. (5 points)
This week I used substitution as I read over the passages that we were to read this week. As I read and studied the story of the lady with Christ I was able to think of how I needed to do as she did. I need to reach to our Savior with unyielding faith. Example Response
(you can delete these paragraphs from your submitted assignment)
I used the substitution skill while studying the scriptures. For example, while studying 2 Timothy 4:7 I read it like this, "I (Mark) will fight a good fight, I will finish my course, I will keep the faith." I thought about the things Paul went through as he ministered to the early saints in the Mediterranean area and endured many hard things and deprivations and
I tried to see myself in his life. I asked myself if I would have had the faith and the strength to do what Paul did. I'm not certain, but I hope so
.
Paul was looking back on his life in these verses. I found it useful to put myself into the future and "look back" in my mind's eye on the things I hope to do and the person I hope to be. This skill made these scriptures into a guide for my life.
3.
Why did you use this study skill in your analysis of the New Testament verses you wrote about above? (5 points)
I used this study skill to help me feel the personal application that can be discerned from
these scriptures. I am very grateful for this, as this week I needed to feel the personal effect of my saviors love as I was very stressed. BYU-Idaho
