Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria: 1. 200–300 words in length (please include your word count at the bottom of the section). 2. Include at least 3 scripture references . Response: This week I really like to share some personal experiences with a friend about the many opportunities I have seen in my life for the gifts received from God. The first example was when I started my mission in London, England. I was
afraid about not be able to learn the language quick. Before my mission I read many time the scripture in D&C 84:85- 88 where Joseph Smith and other elders received a special sweet promise before leaving on their missions. I read this scripture so many times and received so much comfort before to be more self-reliant speaking English on my mission. As I received the gift of tongue during my mission, many members are receiving many gifts in their lives. In the church we strongly believe that Prophets and Apostles are receiving still today revelations and prophecies in order to guide safely His children to His presence forever. In D&C 28:2 we read exactly what President Hunter explained:” Only the President of the Church has the right to receive revelations for the entire Church or to give official interpretations of the scriptures or the doctrines of the Church.” I love knowing that we have living prophets and Apostles on the earth today. As said before, each child of God has received gifts from God. In D&C 46: 11-12 we read that we are all asked to research our gifts and share with others to help other to grow. Word Count: 346 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World There are many serious challenges people encounter on a daily basis that are consequences of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again. Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those who are experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own: abortion abuse/bullying addiction depression divorce domestic violence energy/environmental issues violence gambling genocide homosexuality international terrorism materialism natural disasters pornography unemployment
poverty racial strife/hatred religious intolerance/persecution threats to religious liberty same-sex marriage suicide Scenario: Imagine you are speaking to someone who has experienced or has concerns about the issue you have chosen. What would you share from the doctrine and fundamental truths that you have studied this past week to help that person? Include why you think these truths and doctrine are helpful and what they have meant to you. Be encouraging with the truths you know. Write a response in at least 300-450 words and list your word count at the end of your response. 5. The world problem/issue I chose this week is: Poverty Response: Dear Friend, I fully understand your fear and concerns about this eternal issue that is getting even bigger in these days. Poverty is a problem that always existed because of the wickedness of the people, and not because God would like to see His children sad and suffering. Men in every dispensation have always tried to think that they could live happy lives without the hand of God in their lives but they did not understand this is not the happiness that our Heavenly Father has prepared for us from the beginning. In order to achieve the true eternal happiness Our Heavenly Father has prepared for us a Plan of Happiness or Plan of Salvation. For this reason, He has restored in these latter days His only true church here on earth today. With the true and only recognized priesthood authority, we are able to perform many actions and miracles in order to help God’s children to progress. At the same time, each of God’s children have been blessed with gifts from Heaven from the beginning, and each one of us should try deeply to grow these talents or gifts and help the people around us. In this way all of us would be able to teach one another how to go back to the presence of Our Heavenly Father. This gifts that God gives us are possible to grow according our Faith and obedience to God’s commandments. One of this gifts that is really vital in the role of the restauration is the gift of revelation. Each one of us can develop this precious gift if we really start to develop a personal relationship with God and Our Savior Jesus Christ. We would be able to receive revelations for our lives and eventually for the people in our family or at church when we are serving in any capacity. It is important to know that the Heavens are still open today and we can receive personal revelations and our church prophets and leaders can continually receive revelation for our congregations. If we do our best developing these precious gifts that God has given us, we can prove to the world today that the word poverty could be cancelled from the dictionary if all of us and men and women would work together to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ the law of every nation and country around the world. This is the only law able to destroy poverty for all eternity. I know that, if I do my best, I can still help a person close to me and this is the same attitude that all the people in the world, member or not member should think in order to eliminate the biggest plague in the world today. I promise you, that if you would strive to live accordingly to the laws of the Restored Gospel, you would prosper in your life and help others around you.
