1.
Write at least two short paragraphs (200 words minimum) describing the most insightful/uplifting truths you found during your study this week. You could also include:
personal application you will be making because of something you found this week, questions for your instructor, share a brief experience you had this week because of something you read, etc. (19 points)
During my study of Mark 14 and Luke 22, I discovered two profoundly insightful and uplifting truths. Firstly, I was struck by the portrayal of Jesus commitment to God's plan, even in the face
of imminent suffering and death. In both passages, Jesus displays immense courage and resolve
as He willingly embraces His purpose, surrendering Himself to God's will. This serves as a powerful reminder that even in our own trials and challenges, we can find strength by aligning ourselves with a greater purpose and placing our trust in God's plan.
Secondly, I was deeply moved by Jesus' compassion and forgiveness, particularly during His interactions with Peter. Despite knowing that Peter would deny Him three times, Jesus not only
foretells this event but also extends grace and forgiveness to Peter even before it happens. This
demonstrates the boundless love and mercy of our Savior, who offers us forgiveness and restoration even in our moments of weakness and betrayal. It encourages me to approach others with compassion and forgiveness, recognizing that we are all capable of stumbling and in
need of grace.
As a personal application, this study has reminded me to seek alignment with God's will in all aspects of my life, trusting that He has a purpose and plan for me. It has also prompted me to extend grace and forgiveness to those around me, recognizing our shared humanity and the BYU-Idaho

need for compassion. These insights have inspired me to deepen my relationship with God and strive to live a life of love and mercy.
2.
Give examples of how you used the study skill you selected this week while studying the
New Testament. (5 points)
I used the study skill substitution this week. I loved to be able to imagine myself as peter. Example Response
(you can delete these paragraphs from your submitted assignment)
I used the substitution skill while studying the scriptures. For example, while studying 2 Timothy 4:7 I read it like this, "I (Mark) will fight a good fight, I will finish my course, I will keep the faith." I thought about the things Paul went through as he ministered to the early saints in the Mediterranean area and endured many hard things and deprivations and
I tried to see myself in his life. I asked myself if I would have had the faith and the strength to do what Paul did. I'm not certain, but I hope so
.
Paul was looking back on his life in these verses. I found it useful to put myself into the future and "look back" in my mind's eye on the things I hope to do and the person I hope to be. This skill made these scriptures into a guide for my life.
3.
Why did you use this study skill in your analysis of the New Testament verses you wrote about above? (5 points)
I used this so I may receive a more personal insights and be able to imagine myself as peter. BYU-Idaho
