1.
Write at least two short paragraphs (200 words minimum) describing the most insightful/uplifting truths you found during your study this week. You could also include:
personal application you will be making because of something you found this week, questions for your instructor, share a brief experience you had this week because of something you read, etc. (19 points)
During my study this week in John chapters 15 to 21, I came across two insightful and uplifting truths
that deeply resonated with me. First, in John 15:5, Jesus says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." This verse reminded me of the importance of staying connected to Christ. It highlighted the fact that true
and abundant life can only be found in Him. It encouraged me to prioritize my relationship with Jesus and seek His guidance and strength in everything I do. This truth brought me a sense of peace and reassurance, knowing that I don't have to rely solely on my own abilities, but can depend on the
limitless power of Christ working through me.
In John 16:33, Jesus declares, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." This verse served as a powerful reminder that even in the midst of trials and difficulties, we can find peace in Jesus. It comforted me that Jesus has already conquered the world and that I can find strength and courage through Him. It encouraged me to trust in His sovereignty and have faith that He will guide me through every challenge I face.

As a personal application from these truths, I have decided to prioritize my daily quiet time with God, seeking His presence and guidance through prayer and studying His Word. I want to cultivate a deeper connection with Christ, allowing Him to be the source of my strength and wisdom. Additionally, I will remind myself of Jesus' words in times of trouble, knowing that He has overcome the world and that I can find peace and hope in Him.
2.
Give examples of how you used the study skill you selected this week while studying the
New Testament. (5 points)
I used the principles and doctrines to apply them and learn in my life. Example Response
(you can delete these paragraphs from your submitted assignment)
I used the substitution skill while studying the scriptures. For example, while studying 2 Timothy 4:7 I read it like this, "I (Mark) will fight a good fight, I will finish my course, I will keep the faith." I thought about the things Paul went through as he ministered to the early saints in the Mediterranean area and endured many hard things and deprivations and
I tried to see myself in his life. I asked myself if I would have had the faith and the strength to do what Paul did. I'm not certain, but I hope so
.
Paul was looking back on his life in these verses. I found it useful to put myself into the future and "look back" in my mind's eye on the things I hope to do and the person I hope to be. This skill made these scriptures into a guide for my life.
3.
Why did you use this study skill in your analysis of the New Testament verses you wrote about above? (5 points)
I used this so that I may more deeply learn of the Saviors teachings.
