BIBLE STUDY PROJECT: CORRELATION A. The passage of Acts 9:36-43 fits in to the theme of redemption from the bible because it describes a woman who gave all she had until death and was so loved that the people sought out help from the Lord through Peter. When Tabitha died it was such a terrible event for the town and Peter knew that he needed to do something so he relied of prayer for the Lord to restore her life so she could continue to serve the those who needed her the most. This example of God loving his people and wanting the best for them, although it is a much smaller scale is similar to God using Jesus to save all mankind from sin so we could have eternal life. Tabitha was a believer and served the church in the best way she could, by helping the needy; in Peter restoring her life through prayer she is able to continue to spread the truth of God. B. Throughout the Bible there are verses that describe and give examples of God being thankful and rewarding those who serve the church by helping others. In Proverbs 19:17 NIV it says, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” This shows that God wants his people to help those who are in need and show the love that God has for us through them. James 1:27 NIV says, “to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world”. This is another example of God directing his people who are blessed to have money or food to help those around them who are unable to care for themselves and not to just discard those who are not as well off. God loves all of mankind and we are all his children in turn we should help our brothers and sisters in need because we have been blessed with money or skills to have comfortable lives. Tabitha is said to have done good deeds and the widows show Peter the garments that she made for the poor, this leads one to believe she had money to purchase fabric and the skill to make clothing and it was of worth in that time. C. The passage from Acts reflects the works of Jesus in the fact that Jesus was restored of life and that he restored the lives of people to show he was truly the son of God. Peter praying and bringing Tabitha back from death is like Jesus bringing back Lazarus in John 11, the widow’s son in Luke 7 and Jairus’ daughter in Luke 8. All these acts show that Jesus was able to restore life and then with his own resurrection was able to come back proving he was the son of God as he had said prior to his crucifixion. Peter used prayer to God to have the power of restoring life but both men led believers to know that God loves mankind, and he can grant powers beyond normal human works to those he feels called to work for him and to grant those gifts to those who believe in him.
