What is Assistive Technology (AT) AT is an incorporation of systems used to enhance performance for people with autism. Examples of AT tools include communication devices, mobility aids, and learning devices. The main goal of AT is to eliminate barriers and motivate people with autism spectrum disorder. Educators need adequate training on how to use AT devices.
Assistive Technology Continuum Low-tech ATs. Basic, non-electronic devices. Needs little training. Examples are pencil grips and fidget toys. Mid-tech ATs. Have technological features that foster efficacy An example is timers. High-Tech ATs. Are computer-based programs with advanced features. Virtual reality (VR) and AAC devices. (Envato Tuts, 2018)
