PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 2 Describe the purpose and uses of personality assessment. Please carefully define the terms reliability and validity and explain how they apply to personality assessment. A personality test is a systematic measurement of an individual’s motivation, preferences, emotional make-up, styles, and interests with intentions of understanding a person’s psychology. A personality test hence is used to determine individual areas of weakness and strengths in order to embrace effective psychological tactics that would help in boosting weaknesses. According to Hogan, (2019) a psychological assessment is used for different purposes depending on the reason why they were conducted in the first place. In the work place, it is used to determine the kind of people an organization is hiring in terms of personal values, behaviors, attitude, and beliefs. In psychological treatment, it is used to assist in diagnosis of mental related issues resulting to an all-rounded psychological treatment. On a personal level, the assessment helps on to have a clear personal understanding to determine areas to improve on to fit properly in the society. In personality assessment, reliability is the ability of being considered trustworthy as a result of consistency realised. When a personality assessment test makes use of a consistent process that would issue results that a person can relate with is considered reliable as compared to a test that has a lot of gaps making a person conducting a test doubt the process and results. Validity is the levels of factuality or being logical. For instance in an assessment test, one can feel that the results are logical from the outcome attained. Validity is highly determined by the reliability of the assessment process and tools used. This means that a person taking a personality assessment test requires feeling that the results are valid and reliable in order to act on them properly.
PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 3 Identify and describe at least 2 competencies for giving tests in personality assessment, describe 2 key components in test scoring and interpretation, and describe 2 ethical considerations in providing personality assessment A personality assessor should have a series of skills in order to take people through reliable and valid tests. One of the main competencies is excellent knowledge of all investigative techniques and procedures used in assessing laboratory performances for instance ISO guide, checklists, and ISO guide 58 among others (Krishnamurthy, et al. 2022) . This competency is important in making sure the entire assessment procedure is followed something that would make the clients to trust the process and the outcomes hence determining how they would respond to the diagnosis and recommendations. The second competence is communication both written and spoken in order to understand and interpret the results accurately. This competency plays an important role in the way the assessor makes use of computer process where screening and analyzing files is concerned as this skill helps in reducing errors. The two key components in test scoring and interpretation are the reliability of the process and validity of the outcomes. These two components are highly important because they determine the end results of the assessment. A reliable process makes the assessor to guide the person going through assessment without challenges something that makes the assessed to feel contented with the process. The validity of assessment results effectively guides the assessor in making the right decision in terms of diagnosis (Krishnamurthy, et al. 2022) . Lastly, the two main ethical considerations when it comes to providing personality assessments is the privacy and confidentiality of assessment results such that only the assessed and assessor would get to know making the assessed to feel safe. The second consideration is using the results for the right purpose hence making sure results would not be abused.
