Cognitive Psychology Due: April 5,2020 Dr.Wattenmaker My overall thoughts about these two videos are as you see time travelers to the past. I understand time traveling is non-existing, but these five subjects who have Superior Autobiographical memory can see and feel the past as though they were there at that moment. I also felt surprised that they are individuals out there who can remember every aspect of their life. I feel as though it can be sad too because they can remember the good times and the bad times vividly. They are very surprising to me because it is like they have all the answers for almost everything they have learned or gone through in their brains. They can past school with straight A’s or learn something in an insist because they have to memorize and its with them for life. What I found interesting was when they had testing done, they found they have two parts of their brain larger than “normal”. One part was the temporal lobe where they store memories, and the other was where OCD comes into play. I found it that many of them did have a slight OCD when washing hands or needed everything to be color coordinated. Also, they categorized their memories for example if they went bowling the male subject would put all his memories in like a file cabinet of all his memories with bowling. I also found it interesting when Dr. James McGaugh professor of neurobiology and renowned expert on memory. He was the first Doctor to discover Autobiographical memory, when he was experimenting with rats and adrenaline; he found when the rat was given a shot of adrenaline, they had a better memory. Memories are a very complicated process that we do not understand. Everyday doctors and scientist are acquiring more knowledge about human memories.
