2 Project Two Milestone Research Study: Higher Social Class Predicts Increased Unethical Behavior Select a peer-reviewed journal article and describe its relevance to you personally or professionally in about 50 to 75 words. The peer-reviewed journal article I chose is Higher Social Classes Predicts Increased Unethical Behavior; I can personally relate to this article. When my oldest daughter was in elementary school, many of her classmates had parents who were older but also made more money, which made them "higher class," and they judged me based on my age and my appearance; my daughter even often got bullied for having a young mom. Describe the purpose of the peer-reviewed journal article in about 25 to 50 words. The purpose of this article explores the link between social class and unethical behavior, such as cheating, deception, and breaking the law, and its impact on society. Identify the major methodological design of the peer-reviewed journal article in about 25 to 50 words. The study used a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research techniques. This allowed for a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between social class and unethical behavior. Quantitative data provided an overview of trends and patterns, while qualitative data gave insight into behaviors and attitudes. Combining both methods led to a more complete understanding of the complex relationship. Identify strengths and weaknesses of the specific measurement used to operationalize one of the key variables in about 50 to 100 words. One advantage of utilizing various metrics, such as self-reported social class, education level, and income, is the ease of collecting data through surveys and public records. However, a potential drawback is the possibility of bias in self-reported social class, as individuals may either overestimate or underestimate their social class. Additionally, income and education level are broad categories that may not accurately reflect an individual's social class. For example, someone with a high income but a low education level may not necessarily belong to a higher social class.
3 Identify the key variables and how they were operationalized in the study (i.e., what measures were used) in about 100 to 150 words. The scholarly journal article delves into the topic of unethical conduct among individuals belonging to higher social classes. It presents a well-researched and comprehensive analysis of the results obtained from seven experiments conducted to investigate the prevalence of lying and stealing within this demographic. Additionally, the study explores the intricate relationship between social class and unethical behavior while examining the role of attitudes regarding greed in explaining this link. The authors present an insightful and thought-provoking discussion of their findings, shedding light on the complex intersection of social class and morality.
