● What is the research problem you would like to explore further? Research Question: What are the most effective methods for preventing and treating addiction and what are the underlying neurobiological mechanisms contributing to addictive behaviors? ● How does your research problem relate to your field of study? This research question is relevant to the field of addiction because it addresses two critical aspects of addiction which would be prevention and treatment. It also addresses the underlying neurobiological mechanisms contributing to addictive behavior. ● What methodologies are commonly used to study your research problem? Why do you think that is? Methodologies for studying effective prevention and treatment for addiction would be clinical trials because these trials compare the outcomes of individuals who are receiving different treatment methods. Qualitative research methods such as interviews and focus groups can provide insight into the experiences of individuals affected by addiction and their perspectives on prevention and treatment approaches. Using these methodologies, researchers can gain an understanding of addiction. ● What methodologies are less commonly used to study your research problem? Why do you think that is?

Methodologies that are less commonly used to study addiction would be Qualitative research because it involves exploring the lived experiences, perceptions, and attitudes of individuals affected by addiction. Animal Models will allow researchers to study the biological, behavioral, and neurochemical aspects of addiction in a controlled setting but there will be differences between animal behavior and human behavior. ● How would finding few research study methodologies impact your research question? Finding few research study methodologies would impact my research question because it could influence the depth and scope of understanding my research question. It would affect the quality of evidence. The lack of resources could impact the practicality and feasibility of my research. ● If you can’t find a type of methodology, what do you think that says about your research problem? If I can;t find a type of methodology for my research problem, it could mean that my research problem is too complex. It could also mean that my research problem presents challenges in terms of data collection, analysis or interpretation. ● How could you potentially still use your chosen research problem and find research studies that use each methodology? What

changes might you need to make so you can find examples of each methodology? The changes that I would need to make to continue to use my research problem would be to create my own methodology. Conduct pilot studies to explore different approaches or use a mixed method approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods.
