1TRENT UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY Psychology 3015 Assignment #3 (15%) Due: At the start of your workshop on Nov 29, 30 or Dec 1 st Late assignments will NOT be accepted hand in what you have completed! The grading scheme is based on the following: use of R wherever possible an outcome is significant only if it has a probability less than .05, with each question, indicate its number (e.g., Question #1), the written answer, the JASP output (The JASP output must include the student’s name in the output description –see below). Note : If the output is not placed after each question, it will not be marked. show all hand calculations with your output for any function JASP cannot handle, use APA formatting (e.g., double spacing, 12 pt. font - Times New Roman, 1-inch margins) for all written answers, a hard copy is required with single sided pages, a complete answer must state: the interest of the question, define the variables involved, describe the groups (if applicable), name the test used to analyse the data, report the statistical results in APA – e.g., t (45) = 3.50, p = .35 provide meaningful conclusions. the R output with each question will dictate the analysis you have decided to use and, thus, must be consistent with the name of the test stated in the written section of your answer. The data for this assignment represents information from a previous PSYC 3015 class on thoughts and behaviours regarding statistics. The data file (ASS3FA23v1) can be found in PSYC 3015 Blackboard, Workshops, Assignments. Save it to your directory and rename it as your last name with your first initial, e.g., if your name is Tom Smith, your file name on all of your output will be ASS1TSMITH.robj. The (ASS3FA23V1) file has been managed. This file allows you to proceed and complete Assignment 2.
1. Determine if the anxiety levels (ANXIETY) change over time. Test the parametric assumption we did in workshop and report your findings. Where it is applicable, employ the post hoc multiple comparison test taught in the workshop. 2. Let’s say it is the 2019-20 academic year, and your friend who is enrolled in the class has a general resourcefulness (SCST) score of 23. Describe the bivariate relationship between SCST and SETIME. Based on the given data and given her score of 23, what would you predict their self-efficacy (SETIME1) score is? How accurate is this information? Also, interpret the coefficient of determination for this analysis. Please provide a JASP graph (scatterplot) of the relationship in the output. 3. Determine if there was a significant interaction between SETIME2 and ATTIME2 for the dependent variable MIDGRADE (midterm grades comprised of assignment 1, Test1 and Test2). The variables SEITME2 and ATTIME2 were each divided into two groups using the median split method. Self efficacy at time 2 (SETIME2) scores ranging from 11 to 35 were called “low” and those ranging from 36 to 54 were called “high”. Attitude toward statistics at time 2 (ATTIME2) scores ranging from -20 to 3 were called “negative” and those from 4 to 21 were called “positive”. Don’t forget to test for homogeneity of variance, assume normality has not been violated and apply the post hoc test taught in workshop if applicable. Also include an APA table reporting the means, standard deviation, and N sizes for the cells/conditions.
