Hello all, my name is Ashley, and I am excited to be here. I am a California native that moved to Texas 2 years ago and I love it here. Some of you I know from other classes, I cannot wait to continue this education journey with you. I am in this program to work toward being a clinical psychologist. After searching for a clinical psychology position I came across multiple postings on indeed. The one I chose is in San Antonio TX which I would have to move closer to but it would be a fun adventure. Under the job description it says the company is looking for individuals with dedication, ambition, caring, and collaborates well with others. I do have these attributes although collaborating is not my strong suite I do desire to get better at working with others. I can fulfill all of the responsibilities of the role including coordinating with team members for the best treatment plan. I can definitely ensure all services are completed according to relevant ethical and professional standards. As my current job is a behavior therapist working with children with Autism and other disabilities I have the ability to work with diverse populations and I do have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skills I am currently obtaining through my Psychology program include learning about and how to run a variety of assessments, researching multiple mental disorders, using critical skills to accurately diagnose and provide possible treatment plans. The skills I would still need to obtain include; credentials and licensure and completing exams. I would be a good fit for this role after licensure because I have been a behavior therapist for 2 years working with a variety of children with many different diagnoses and I do have experience working with adults of varying diagnoses as well. I am a well-rounded individual always eager to learn. Some strengths I possess are communicating with others, keeping myself organized, staying professional, taking initiative and providing insight to situations. Some weaknesses I currently possess are; navigating coworkers and my role in the group. One way to aide with my understanding where I fit in the position with coworkers is to explain my exact role and expected contributions. Getting my psychology degree through UAGC will give the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this role.
