Early Childhood Education-Final Placement WEEK FOUR DAILY REFLECTION #1 2 1. What have I learned about the children and their families that will help in planning curriculum for the children? In my experience of my journey of understanding toddler development, I quickly realized the significance of enhancing their positive behavioral skills and teaching them how to express their feelings effectively. Toddlers are at a crucial stage of their emotional and social development and guiding them towards positive behaviors allows them to interact positively with others and build healthier relationships. By teaching toddlers to express their feelings without resorting to crying and screaming, we empower them to communicate their needs and emotions more constructively, fostering a sense of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. These early lessons in managing emotions and behaviors lay the foundation for their future emotional well-being and overall social competence. As caregivers and educators, it becomes our responsibility to create a nurturing environment that supports and encourages their emotional growth, equipping them with essential life skills for a brighter future. 2. Highlights/successes of the day Highlights : Toddlers enjoyed doing handprint activity organized by me. Most of them are starting to use sentences by saying “I want to paint, please!” Success: Initiating the handprint sea animal activity and encouraging the children to engage and enjoy painting 3. Goals to help you overcome your challenges. Working with toddlers can be both rewarding and challenging. To help overcome the difficulties and provide a positive and enriching experience, consider setting the following goals: - Patience and Understanding: Make it a goal to cultivate patience and a deep understanding of toddler behavior and development. Toddlers may exhibit challenging behaviors as they are exploring their emotions and learning to communicate. - Flexibility: Set a goal to be flexible in your approach to working with toddlers. Every child is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. Adapt your strategies to cater to individual needs and preferences. 4. Feedback provided by your on-site supervisor.

A competency I am meeting today is under Standard I Caring and Responsive Relationship (Provides encouragement and support by responding appropriately to the ideas, concerns, and needs of children and families. As an educator, I strive to demonstrate genuine encouragement and unwavering support by actively listening and responding appropriately to the ideas, concerns, and needs of children and their families. I create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their thoughts and emotions. By valuing their ideas and opinions, I empower them to develop their confidence and self-esteem. I also collaborate closely with families, recognizing their vital role in a child’s growth and development. I listen attentively to their concerns, respecting their unique parenting styles and cultural backgrounds. Through open and respectful communication, I work together with families to address any challenges and ensure consistency between home and school environments. By demonstrating empathy and understanding, I aim to create a supportive community that fosters holistic development and enriching experiences for both children and their families. Another competency I am demonstrating is under Standard II Curriculum and Pedagogy (When implementing planned learning experiences recognizes and responds to children’s emerging needs/interest. As and attentive and dedicated educator, I demonstrate a keen ability to recognize and respond to the toddlers' emerging needs and interests when implementing planned learning experiences. I observe the children closely, attentively listening to their verbal and non-verbal cues to understand their unique personalities, preferences, and curiosities. By doing so, I tailer my activities and lessons to align with their individual developmental stages, ensuring that each child is fully engaged and motivated to participate. My thoughtful approach fosters a sense of trust and security among the toddlers, as they feel genuinely seen and valued in their learning journey. My commitment to responsive teaching creates a nurturing and enriching environment, where the toddlers feel encouraged to explore, discover, and grow, leaving a lasting positive impact on their overall development and love for learning.
