2 Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer The Night Stalker is one of the most famous serial killers in California history. He terrorized Los Angeles in the 1980s and early 1990s, killing at least 13 people and injuring others. The dark and twisted nature of the crimes makes them one of the most compelling stories in California history, but what made the Night Stalker such a persuasive figure was the hunt to find him. Richard Ramirez, also known as "The Night Stalker," is the main character in the series and a notorious serial killer who tormented the lives of residents of Los Angeles by torturing, raping, and murdering random citizens of the community. Additionally, he is one of the most feared and infamous, with his name and face becoming synonymous with fear and chaos in his area. The Night Stalker is one of the greatest mysteries and most bizarre stories in Southern California history. The survivors of the Night Stalker, a serial killer who terrorized Southern California in the 1980s and 1990s, play an important role in identifying the killer by sharing information with the police. In addition, they were instrumental in investigating the serial killer who terrorized their city by providing a source of empathy for the police, who were often unable to imagine what the victims had been through and who were instead reminded of their safety. The empathy helped the police approach the survivors with respect and helped them empathize with the survivors themselves. From what I have learned about serial killer stories from the module content, the first thing I noticed was that most of the stories about serial killers contained a lot of similarities. For example, in the Night Stalker: The Haunt for a Serial Killer and serial killer stories, there is a lot of background information about their childhood, such as where they were born and what their parents did for a living. Serial killers are well-known, famous killers who have been discovered

3 and convicted for their crimes. They are often known for their cruelty and their penchant for killing many people. Similarly, they are the subject of books, movies, documentaries, and news articles. Additionally, these serial killer stories possess some differences. The difference between the Night Stalker and other serial killer stories is the focus on the victims. Other serial killer stories usually focus on the perpetrator, the investigation, or the killer's psychology. The Night Stalker; however, is all about the people who were taken from us long time ago. It is about their families, how their lives were turned upside down, and the grief they continue to feel today. The Netflix series, The Night Stalker, is a crime drama that follows a series of serial murders committed by Richard Ramirez. The series, which is based on true events, has drawn comparisons to today's most popular crime documentaries, such as The First 48 and The Hunt. Similar to these other programs, The Night Stalker uses crime scene photos to capture viewers' attention and create a sense of realism. However, the use of these images has raised concerns among people who watch the show, particularly those who are victims of violent crimes or their families.
