Greetings Jiju, It is also important to acknowledge the theological theme of God’s sovereignty, power, and faithfulness within creation as we inspect Gen 1-11. Hamilton points out, “From Adam through Noah’s progeny (1–11) models of faithlessness have easily outnumbered models of obedience.” 1 Even though man, whom He created and designed with the inherent ability to make choices would turn away from Him again and again, God remains faithful, provisionary, and sovereign despite the free will of man. Furthermore, according to Hamilton, we begin to see God as the author and originator of objective truth and morality that emerge within the early chapters of Genesis, presenting the theological theme of Holiness attributed to God. 2 Hamilton references work done by German theologian and historian Rudolph Otto, stating, “To use Otto’s phrase, the “holy” is mysterium tremendum et fascinosum —that is, that which elicits in the worshiper both fear and fascination, “lashed with terror, leashed with longing.” 3 This understood, both of these theological themes presented coincide. Because of God’s holiness, his authorship of objective truth and morality, He is the only capable force of ultimate provision, sovereignty, power, and faithfulness. It is through the lens of this understanding that man can even fathom the existence of the universe, and all that exists within. God brought forth creation, and at no point did He encounter resistance of any kind. 4 Because of this authorship, it is clear that He is the only capable sustainer. 1 Victor P.
