Why offshore drilling?
The risks posed by offshore drilling are unacceptable and include: -
1. Oil Spills: -
An average of 157,000 barrels of oil are spilled each year from rigs, storage tanks, tankers and other vessels. construction on shore. The Gulf, our shores and the economy are at undue risk.
2. Hazardous waste: -
Current offshore drilling activities cause harmful air and water pollution. Platform exploration and boiling, oil transport and onshore refining are all ways volatile bio-compounds, greenhouse gases, and other pollutants are released.
3. Animal Hazards: -
Wildlife is a threat wherever excess oil and contaminants are present. Even a small oil spill at the headwaters of the bay can wreak havoc on blue crab residents by killing their larvae.
4. A natural hazard: -
Wetlands, beaches and mudflats can be destroyed by a major spill.
Offshore drilling typically used three types, what are the three types of offshore drilling?
1. Exchange equipment :-
Plug-in devices are mainly used in shallow wells. Standing on three (sometimes four) feet fixed on the ocean floor, the oil rig will move up and down under its feet as the water level changes. The "attack" of the platform from top to bottom is where this technology gets its name. For the first time, jack-up rigs have provided a stable platform for offshore oil and gas exploration. Soon these platforms were popping up all over America's shores.
2. Used stages : -
This type of rig is a large floating vessel. The platform is based on giant columns attached to large buoys. It uses a dynamic positioning system (pusher) or anchors to stay in place throughout the drilling process. This type of rig is the BP Deep-water Horizon.
3. Drilling rig : -
Drilling machine is now the most demanding type of drilling machine. Of the rigs under construction, most are rigs. Indeed, drill ships offer a faster alternative to semi-submersibles. Although seedlings take more than two months to reach a new location, drill ships can make the same trip in three weeks.
The advantages that exercise ships offer is that they can operate in remote locations with less refueling. Plus, their increased flexibility and capacity allows owners to charge more per day for use. However, they are less stable than conventional semi-submersibles.
