Short Answer: If you directly quote from the book, cite it properly. Take as much space as you need.
What are Locke’s three criteria for justifying private property? In your answer be sure to give the ethical dimensions for each, as well as state the empirical condition he made clear. (15 points)
The first criteria that Locke provides is to labor insofar as one is able to, this talks about the work ethic. The second criteria that Locke provides is to take what you need. This talks about how each person has access to resources to get what is needed to live. If many people or just one person takes more then they need they are violating other people’s right to live. The third criteria that Locke provides is “to leave enough and as good” as others (p.281). This means that those who are not first to the resource should not have less quality or not enough to met their own needs then those who were able to get their before them. Define (who are they and why are they) a stakeholder, according to Freeman. (9 points)
A Stakeholder according to Freeman is any group or one person that is affected positively or negatively by the firm. This groups includes employees, the community, suppliers, etc. They are a stakeholder because they “have a right not to be treated as a means to some end and therefore must participate in determining the future direction of the firm in which they have a stake” (p.258).
According to Sass, what are the three worker’s rights? What did Sass find that resulted from giving workers these rights? (10 points)
According to Sass the three worker’s rights are to know about the job (this includes the hazards, toxins, etc.), to participate in decision making and to have the right to refuse hazardous work. Sass found that works are more productive and there are less accidents.

What is real poverty, according to Shiva, and how is it caused/brought about? (10 points)
According to Shiva real poverty is where they are no resources, people are hungry, the ecosystem is degraded beyond subsistence and they are now dependent instead of autonomous. Real poverty is brought about is when “development” for the nation comes in and displaces the people of the nation. What is May’s model for holding key personnel criminally responsible, and what is the advantage of his model? (20 points)
May’s model for holding key personnel criminally responsible has two factors, The Casual Factor and The Fault Factor. The Casual Factor id the link between the firm and the harm, employees are enabled to do harmful acts by being an employee for the firm. Not listening to orders/procedures can lead employees and those who supervise them. The Fault Factor is when key personal “failed to take preventative measures” to stop the
harm and a) key personal could of taken these precautions and be personal could have predicted that harm would occur. The advantages of this motel is dealing with harm and
to boycotts or fines that can be passed to employees or consumers. The firm cannot feel
“shame”. What is the pond example Singer uses, and what is the principle he argues for as a result
of this example? (15 points)
The pond example that Singer uses is a child is drowning in a pond and a person is walking by who can save the child but will be late and also get his clothes mussed. According to Singer “If it is in our power to prevent something very bad from happening,
without thereby sacrificing anything of comparable moral significance, we ought to do it”. This implies that the man should save the drowning child because it is his duty to do so. Multiple Choice: Circle the correct answer (5 points each)
