This article speaks to the fact that in order for a community or nation to stay healthy that certain liberties that are often taken for granted must be forsaken. It also demonstrates the need for mandatory vaccines in spite of bodily autonomy in respects to the health of the masses. It speaks about how though our civil liberties are what makes us free, we are chained to fear when illness surrounds us. Con:

The authors of this article review the ethics and permitted “coercion” of mandating vaccinations in a career setting. This particular article references the epidemic of the measles and displays arguments for not having to look past bodily autonomy for the good of the population. It mentions needing the civil liberty and freedom of bodily autonomy in order to be considered a free nation. Aspect 2: Ethics behind mandatory vaccinations
Pro: John, P., Heith, K., Johnson, E., & Gaeta, M. (2021). Ethical Consideration for Covid-19 Vaccine Mandate. Society of Critical Care Medicine. Retrieved from: https://www.sccm.org/Blog/June-2021/Ethical-Considerations-for-a-COVID-19-Vaccine-Mand
This article debates back and forth the ethics behind mandatory medicine. The article details that although it may seem unethical in a smaller scale, when looked at as the big picture, globally, mandating certain vaccinations to ensure the continuation of the population can be seen as ethical. This article at first read as it would be the pro argument. However, after further inspection, I believe this is the con argument. The article details the ethical dilemma that we are faced during the global pandemic surrounding mandatory vaccinations. On one hand, the article states, that ethically, we are to do what is most useful and helpful healthcare wise for the masses. On the other, enforcing vaccines denies a patients right to choose in regard to their treatment and also infringes on bodily autonomy.
Aspect 3: The Global Pandemic, Covid-19, and it’s effect on the perception of mandating vaccines. Pro: Syan, S. K., Gohari, M. R., Levitt, E. E., Belisario, K., Gillard, J., DeJesus, J., & MacKillop, J. (2021). Covid-19 Vaccine Perceptions and Differences by Sex, Age, and Education in 1, 367 Community Adults in Ontario. if they had not done so already. The article states that people became more educated in the science of vaccines during the global pandemic. Con: Friedman, A., Gershon, R., Gneezy, A. (2021). Covid-19 and vaccine hesitancy: A longitudinal study. PLOS One.

This article details how the global pandemic of Covid-19 has negatively affected the vaccine cause. More people than ever are fighting for bodily autonomy and to have a right to refuse care. The article describes how the numbers of people attempting to use exemptions has drastically increased since the start.
