1. The Dr. Yeung case study includes uncomfortable moral choices. involving Aiden, Maya, and Dr. Yeung. contact her using her personal phone number? Is there more of a personal connection between them than there used to be professionally? whether Dr. Yeung should show the communication she received as a threat. In her position, she has to the company? Principle A - Beneficence and Nonmaleficence- is the first principle that provides context for understanding the nature of the issue. Principle B, "Fidelity and Responsibility," emphasizes the significance of building trustworthy connections, adhering to ethical, and defining one's professional identity and Value E: Honor all people with the respect they deserve. Recognizing the inherent value and worth of everyone and upholding their right to privacy and secrecy. 2. Dr. Yeung, Aiden, Maya, and the priority should be to ensure that both their bodily and mental health are not jeopardized in any way. Taking immediate action in this response to the message might lead to Dr. Yeung accessing of breaching confidentiality between herself, Aiden, and Maya. She also risks endangering Maya's physical safety if she does nothing to prevent the situation 3. Duty-to-protect If a healthcare professional has reasonable cause to believe that one of their patients may engage in violent conduct and can find a possible victim, patient's treatment provider is required by law to report this information to law enforcement. Aiden left a troubling message, but he didn't explicitly say that he was going to hurt someone. "I'm going to finish this with them tonight, and the bottle is my salvation." Is he threatening to end it all, either literally or is he talking metaphorically? who are "they," is they maya or is he referring to Alcohol? 5. Dr. Yeung needs to decide how she wants to approach the situation, she needs to first evaluate the ethical standards which is laid forth by the American Psychological Association (2017). These standards are put into place to cover issues which include competence, relationships, privacy, and confidentiality. Dr. Yeung should be well-versed in the legal and administrative constraints that pertain to her work. In which she can also refer to 3.04, which is No Harm Psychologists take all necessary precautions to ensure their study subjects' safety 6. Dr. Yeung needs to first consult with a colleague, which is recommended by industry standards "3.09 Working With Other Experts where psychologists work with other professions to best serve their clients/patients when doing so is necessary and ethical" and also Honesty and Accountability agrees with in that psychologists should seek advice and also can refer clients to collaborate with other experts as necessary to serve their clients' best interests 7.Dr. Yeung must decide or report Aiden's threat to the police or ignore it. The feud and tense between Aiden and Maya, and how his drinking is becoming more emotionally and psychologically abusive, and he has spent time in prison due to physical injury inflicted to Maya should be major factors in which in deciding whether to notify police authorities in response to Aiden's concerning message. Dr. Yeung's professional standing and her connection to Aiden and Maya, I believe her judgment to be true and this to be correct. Following first contact, Dr. Yeung should assess whether her connection with Aiden and Maya is in keeping with professional standards but also not letting her personal relationship interfere with her job and doing what needs to be done but also remain and have bounties Reference koocher, g. p.
