1.
Describe in your own words how critical thinking and emotional
intelligence has expanded your skill set as it relates to your current or future workplace success.
Critical thinking and emotional intelligence have expanded my skills by increasing my analysis and problem-solving skills, through observation and evaluation in my workplace. I now assess the facts and information using logic instead of my emotions. I focus on the situations at hand and being more creative when making decisions. I weigh out all the possible solutions before issues to have a better understanding of the issue at hand to better resolve the situation. Emotional intelligence has been a skill I have improved on as well in the workplace. I have learned to manage my emotions and feelings, first discovering what was the reason why I felt a certain way in some conflicts. I have been able to discover my strengths and weaknesses and understand why I had certain emotions in situations. I have learned to control those emotions and
impulses, by having this skill I am able to think about the situation before reacting and listening all points of view. This gives me clarification of what the conflict is pertaining to help solve the conflict. Also, having empathy for my team has enabled me to set an example to them, showing them, I care and am understanding. Interacting with my team and talking to them helps solve issues and learning to work together has improved my social and communication skills. 2.
Define reason and explain the role of reason in critical thinking in forming conclusions and making decisions. Find one source that supports your main position. Make sure that you site it using full APA standards at the end of your essay answer.
Reason is the cause, explanation, or justification for an action or event, reasoning in an argument
is given evidence that supports a conclusion. Reasoning is the process in which we analyze data, information, facts, and beliefs to work out conclusions from those facts with the intent to make sense of the situation. The two main types of reasoning are inductive and deductive. Inductive reasoning uses observation and experiences to make conclusions. The reasoning moves from specific cases to generalizations. Inductive arguments are assessed based on assumptions to the degree of likelihood that the conclusion could be true, while the assumption of deductive arguments is assessed to the degree of certainty. Deductive reasoning is the form in which the conclusion is made logically based off conclusive assumption, if the assumption is true then the conclusion must be true.
