The Surrogate Role The link between the patient and the nurse, or the necessity of collaboration between nurses and patients, is the focal point of Peplau's nursing theory, "the interpersonal relationship." The relationship or partnership between the two entails both of them cooperating as a team and demonstrating maturity and understanding of the process. The concept involves an interpersonal approach as it necessitates communication between two or more individuals working toward a shared goal. The surrogate role is one of various roles in the nursing profession (Forchuk, 2021) . As per Peplau's delineation of the surrogate role, a nurse aids the patient in distinguishing and clarifying the domains of reliance, reciprocity, and autonomy while providing assistance to a familiar person. According to Peplau's description, the surrogate function is applicable to contemporary nursing practice. The position is pertinent to modern nursing practice as it entails the relationship and collaboration between the nurse and patient. In nursing practice, the nurse represents the patient's interests and makes sure they receive the attention and assistance they need to become well. The surrogate position creates a connection in which the nurse provides compassion, encouragement, sympathy, and seclusion in order to care for both the intended parents and the child during their journey (Allen & Mishkin, 2020) . Given that surrogacy is one of the world's most significant medical initiatives, it is critical to understand how it affects nursing practice. Since moral quandaries are the most frequent ones associated with surrogacy and nursing, nurses must do extensive medical examinations on ill patients in order to resolve any potential ethical conflicts. The choices to be made in the contract for medical crises must be made clear both the surrogate mother and the planned parents. The consent of all parties engaged in the operation aids nurses in making decisions about health care, such as encouraging the client to accept greater responsibility for the
treatment plan (Olufunke, 2019) . In conclusion, Peplau's description of the surrogate position is applicable to contemporary nursing practice. Additionally, the function is seen to forge a bond between the nurse and the surrogate as well as a collaboration between all parties engaged in the procedure. Peplau's nursing philosophy also helps with any health problems that may come up throughout the surrogacy process, since the patient and nurse collaborate to satisfy the requirements of the ill person.
