The top line of your submitted assignment MUST be in the following form: YOUR NAME Homework Assignment # GTID Number THE ASSIGNMENT: Human Digestion of Ice Cream A ½ cup serving of ice cream contains 7 g fat, 16 g of carbohydrate (14 g in the form of table sugar, sucrose a disaccharide), and 2.3 g protein. These nutrients must be converted into a form useful to the body. The digestive system converts these substrates into simpler molecules that can be absorbed into the circulatory system for ultimate delivery to cells. Create three simple tables, one for each nutrient type (fat, carbohydrate & protein). Each table should have the following format: Structure/Location Enzyme/Resulting Products Accessory structure/secretions Absorption 1. Mouth 2. Stomach 3. Small intestine 4. Large intestine Each table should be clearly labeled by nutrient type. Identify source of secretions and role in digestion from accessory organs (e.g. pancreas). For “Absorption, identify the location and form in which the nutrients are absorbed into the circulatory system.
