Which example was written for orchestra (without chorus)? a. Cantata No. 140, Wachet auf B. Write a response summarizing your personal opinions and reactions to each of these three works. Even though they differ on aspects such as form, texture, etc., what do you think they had in common? Did any of them stand out as a favorite, and if so, why? Feel free to include any other information. (7 sentences minimum). I think the piece Cantata No. 140, Wachet auf (Chorale Fantasia portion only) was my favorite. It was a beautiful piece that I really enjoyed very much. The soprano voices were so delicate and angelic which reminded me of my days singing in Mastery Choir in high school. My least favorite was “Little” Fugue in G Minor. This piece was a consistently ongoing tune that annoyed me a little bit. I liked listening to the melody of Orchestral Suite No. 3, Air and Gigue, but the music wasn’t something shocking to hear. I took music history in high school so I am used to listening to this kind of music from that course. It was honestly hard for me to find what all three had in common specifically
because the piece “Little” Fugue in G Minor was a lot different from the other two pieces that had both consisted more of the same instruments. I was only able to hear at least one instrument from “Little” Fugue in G Minor.
