DAD 220 Analysis and Summary Template Replace the bracketed text in this template with your responses and any supporting screenshots. Then submit it to the Module Five Activity for grading and feedback. Rename this document by adding your last name to the file name before you submit. 1. Analyze the data you’ve been provided with to identify themes : a. Which parts are being replaced most? Tires being replaced the most although fuel tanks are being repaired the most. b. Is there a region of the country that experiences more part failures and replacements than others? i. Identify region:
The region with the most part failures or replacements is Illinois. ii. How might the fleet maintenance team use the information to update its maintenance schedule? They should be in Illinois more often to be ready for repairs. c. Which parts are being replaced most due to corrosion or rust? i. Wheel Arches are being replaced most due to corrosion or rust. d. Which parts are being replaced most because of mechanical failure or accident, like a flat tire or rock through the windshield?
Tires are being replaced most due to mechanical failure or accidenst. 2. Write a brief summary of your analysis that takes the information from Step 1 and presents it in a way that nontechnical stakeholders can understand. Most repairs are done in Illinois so the maintenance team should be scheduled there more often to prepare for these repairs. Tires are the most often replaced part as well as tire repair and replacement being the most common repairs due to mechanical failures or accidents. However, fuel tanks are being repaired the most overall, but wheel arches are the most common repair due to corrosion or rust. . 3. Outline the approach that you took to conduct the analysis. a. What queries did you use to identify trends or themes in the data? I used select queries to return the repair and count while grouping by repair and ordering by count descending. I then used a where clause when necessary to further specify my query and only select certain values. b. What are the benefits of using these queries to retrieve the information in a way that allows you to provide valuable information to your stakeholders? i. It allows meaningful questions about where and when both labor and stock should be and is easily done efficiently by only one person if said person is knowledgeable enough.

4. Explain how the functions in the analysis tool allowed you to organize the data and retrieve records quickly. SELECT and GROUP BY were integral in making the data visible and manipulatable. They allowed me to see the data I needed and use other functions such as COUNT. COUNT was one of the most common functions I used, and allowed me to know what repairs were done the most rather than having to count myself. ORDER BY also helped combined with DESC to have the most common repair at the top rather than having to look through. And of course, WHERE allowed me to limit the data I used to only values that matched certain criteria. And LIMIT was also a convenience so that the results of the state repair query didn’t fill my entire screen.
