Describe the difference between "winner-take-all" and "proportional
representation" systems. Which system do you prefer?
A winner-take-all system is when a legislative seat is awarded by people who win in the
first place, while a proportional representation is based on votes. I would prefer
proportional representation because it is a way that people are able to vote for someone
who may have better qualities than the other people who may be competing for the
same spot.

Solve question 2 based on the answer of question 1.
You have a natural gas furnace in your home that used 78,500 cubic feet of natural gas for heating last winter. Your neighbor has a furnace that burns heating oil and used 516 gallons of heating oil last winter. You can convert the natural gas and heating oil consumption data into Btu to determine which home used more energy for heating.
Natural gas BTU: 1,028 Btu per cubic foot
Oil BTU: 138,590 Btu per gallon
Natural Gas BTU= 80,698,000
Oil BTU = 71,512,440
The home that used a natural gas furnace used more energy for heating.
2.- You need a new furnace for your home, and you are comparing systems that use natural gas and heating oil. One factor to consider is the cost of the fuel. You can compare the price of the fuels on an equal basis by dividing the price per unit of the fuels by the Btu content per unit of the fuels to get a price per million Btu.
Assume Natural gas price = $10.50 per thousand cubic…

Cathy Gwynn for a class project is analyzing a "Quick Shop" grocery store. The store emphasizes quick service, a limited assortment of grocery items, and higher prices. Cathy wants to see if the store hours (currently 0600 to 0100) can be changed to make the store more profitable.

Quality has been defined as customer satisfaction (or "fitness for use"). Quality can also be defined as "conformance to specifications". In theory, if you create the right specifications and then manufacture a product that meets these specifications, you should achieve customer satisfaction.
Consider the following four scenarios for a particular product:
A) Conforms to specifications and is competitive in its adequacy.
B) Conforms to specifications and is not competitive in its suitability.
C) It does not conform to specifications and is competitive in its education.
D) Does not conform to specifications and is not competitive in its education.
Which of these are not, in theory, feasible, but in practice occur and cause a lot of conceptual confusion?
Can you cite some examples?

Engineering Economy
A company has determined the price and the monthly demand of its products are related by the equation D = √775 - p, where p is the price per unit in dollar and D, is the monthly demand. The associated fixed costs are $2,125 per month and the variable costs are $100/ unit. Use this information to answer the following:
a)What is the optimal number of units that should be produced and sold each month?
b) What is the maximum profit?
c)Determine the value of D that represents the break-even point?

You have two toys with two different shapes; one is shaped like a solid cylinder and the other like a solid sphere. The
two toys have the same volume (V(cylinder) = V(sphere)) and same radius (R(cylinder)=R(sphere)). They both
generate the same total heat (q(cylinder)=q(sphere)) and are made from the same material (k(cylinder)=k(sphere)).
a) Determine whether the sphere toy or the cylinder toy has the higher heat flux anywhere in the toy
b) Calculate the ratio of the maximum heat fluxes between them
Hint: Assume the ends of the cylinder toy to be perfectly insulated.
