A Speech on The Process of Replacing Oil in Your Car.
“Today, I would like to talk about the vital aspect of car maintenance, which is replacing
the oil in one’s car engine. Changing the oil is a crucial part of vehicle maintenance that can help
prolong the lifespan of the engine, increase fuel efficiency, and avoid expensive fixes down the
road. It maintains your motor clean by capturing grime, detritus, and other impurities and
lubricating the moving components to minimize friction and damage. It's been established that
oil degrades over time, losing its greasing qualities along the way. Indeed, frequent oil changes
are important to keep the vehicle operating efficiently and securely (Helsby n.p.). So, let us delve
into the procedure of changing oil in the vehicle.
To begin with, when conducting an oil change in the vehicle, gather the right tools and
supplies. The items that one need include a replacement drip pan, oil filter, oil spanner, and oil
funnel (Mortimer n.p). The process of changing the oil can be divided into several stages, which
include warming up the engine, identifying the oil drain valve, emptying the old oil, removing
the old oil filter, changing the oil filter, inspecting the oil level, as well as adding new oil.
In the process of changing the oil in the vehicle, one needs to warm up the engine by
driving the car for a couple of minutes. This procedure is essential to guarantee that the oil is
heated and will trickle out more effortlessly. Afterwards, one should locate the oil discharge
Surname 2
valve under their vehicle. It is usually found on the floor of the oil tank, near the front of the
engine. Position the oil discharge pan precisely below it, and then with a socket tool, remove the
cap. This will enable the old oil to flow freely into the pan.
After the oil has trickled out, one needs to reinstall the drain plug and attach the
replacement oil filter. Ask a mechanic to identify the vehicle's right type and quantity of oil.
Then, use a funnel to place new oil into the oil tank until it is completely full to the right amount.
After filling the oil, switch on the engine and leave it to run for several minutes to make sure the
oil flows correctly (Power Oil Center).
To sum up, replacing the oil in one’s car is a crucial element when it comes to the
vehicle’s maintenance. By doing this, it can help prolong the lifespan of the engine, increase fuel
efficiency, and avoid expensive fixes down the road. Frequent oil changes are important to keep
one’s vehicle operating effectively and safely. By gathering the necessary tools and materials and
adhering to the steps of changing the oil, one can simply conduct an oil change on their own.
Remember, replacing the oil in one’s vehicle is not only necessary to maintain their
vehicle but also for their safety. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that one replace their oil
frequently and to always use the specified type and quantity of oil for one’s vehicle. By
following these steps, one can help maintain their vehicle to function effortlessly and safely for
many more years to come. I would like to finish my speech by thanking all of you for listening to
my speech on the process of changing oil in one’s vehicle. I trust that the speech was informative
and beneficial. Always keep in mind that when you take care of your vehicle, it will take care of
you.”

Part A
Some tire stores claim that filling your car tires with pure, dry nitrogen is much better than using plain air. They make the following claims.
1. The pressure inside N₂-filled tires does not rise or fall with temperature changes.
2. Nitrogen leaks out of tires much more slowly than air because the N₂ molecules are bigger.
3. Nitrogen is not very reactive, and moisture and O₂ in air cause corrosion that shortens tire life by 25-30%
Evaluate the claim as a whole.
Check all that apply.
Claim passes falsifiability test.
Claim passes logic test.
Claim passes replicability test.
Claim passes sufficiency test
Claim fails all four FLaReS tests.

You are assigned as the head of the engineering team to work on selecting the right-sized blower that will go on your new line of hybrid vehicles. The fan circulates the warm air on the inside of the windshield to stop condensation of water vapor and allow for maximum visibility during wintertime (see images). You have been provided with some info. and are asked to pick from the bottom table, the right model number(s) that will satisfy the requirement. Your car is equipped with a fan blower setting that allow you to choose between speeds 0, 1,2 and 3. Variation of the convection heat transfer coefficient is dependent upon multiple factors, including the size and the blower configuration. You can only use the following parameters:

Case Study – The New Engineer
Jeff was just hired by GSI, Inc. to be their Environmental and Safety Coordinator. This is Jeff's first position after completing his engineering degree. He had taken a course in safety engineering as part of his studies and felt confident that he could handle the job.
Management at GSI, Inc. has assured him that they are committed to maintaining a safe workplace. They have never had an individual dedicated to this task full-time. They will implement his recommendations if he can justify them.
As Jeff begins to get familiar with the operations, he spends considerable time on the production floor. He notices workers clean their tools before break with a liquid from an unmarked 55-gallon drum. They also use this liquid to clean residue from their skin. They use paper towels to dry their tools and hands, throw these towels in the trash, and head to the break room for a snack and/or smoke.
In talking with the workers, Jeff learns of some of…

1) Forgetting the fact that it would be difficult to detect, if you turn on any electrical device in your car (such as air conditioner blower, headlights, or even the radio) then additional gasoline is burned by the engine. This statement is
a) always true.
b) true only if the car's engine is running while the electrical device is on.
c) true only if the car's engine is stopped while the electrical device is on.
d) never true. The energy for electrical devices in your automobile has nothing to do with the amount of gasoline your engine burns.
e) true in conventional cars, but not in hybrid electric cars.

You go on a road trip to escape the cold winter days of Kirkland Lake, Ontario to the warm beaches of Moonbeam, Ontario. Since it is a long drive and you are leaving early in the morning, you make sure to check the tire pressure and make sure it is at the recommended level.
At lunchtime, you stop for gas and decide to check your car's tire pressure again. You also notice that the tires seem to be a little bit larger than when you left.
The driver's manual suggests a pressure between 205 and 220 kPa. Knowing that the tires heat up while driving; do you expect your reading to be high, low or the same as the recommended tire pressure? Why? Since you plan on staying in Moonbeam a while to see the sights, you think it would be best to adjust your tire pressure. What adjustments should be made to your tires? Should you make these adjustments as soon as you arrive, or the following day?
