1. Explain what must be done to successfully implement the strategy for your innovative new product idea to improve the competitive advantages of your chosen organization. To increase an organization's competitive advantages, implementing a strategy for an innovative new product idea necessitates thorough planning and execution. Product Development and Design: Fujifilm currently has an ultrasound device on the market that is used in medical facilities around the world. The have an already established and strong R&D that they will need to rely on to help with creating the new at-home pregnancy ultrasound device. The device will need to come with clear instructions, user-friendly, portable, and safe at-home ultrasound device. Distribution and Partnerships: Fujifilm has been a strong competitor globally in the medical equipment market for many years now. This has allowed to have partners already established with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and telehealth platforms to distribute the device. Fujifilm will need to collaborate with clinics, hospitals, and obstetricians to integrate the device into prenatal care. 1.1 Discuss how to manage the value chain of your organization in the implementation of your strategy. Managing the value chain of an organization involves optimizing the entire process of creating, producing, and delivering goods or services to customers. It encompasses various activities across the entire lifecycle, from sourcing raw materials to distributing the final product. Product Development and Manufacturing:
Fujifilm needs to Streamline research and development processes to accelerate product innovation. They will apply Lean Manufacturing practices by optimizing production processes to minimize waste, reduce costs, and improve quality. Prioritizing quality control by putting in place rigorous quality checks at every stage to ensure reliable and safe products. Marketing and Sales: Fujifilm will need to identify key customer segments (e.g., pregnant women, healthcare providers) and tailor marketing efforts accordingly. They can focus on the digital marketing by leveraging online channels, social media, and influencers to create awareness. They can open the sales channels by exploring direct-to-consumer sales, partnerships with healthcare providers, and e-commerce platforms. 1.2 Explain the ideal organizational design of your organization to ensure the successful implementation of your strategy. An organization’s design should align with its strategic goals and enhance its ability to execute effectively. Fujifilm should adopt a matrix structure that combines functional and product-based divisions. The functional units maintain specialized functions (e.g., R&D, marketing, manufacturing) to ensure expertise and efficiency.
